Valhalla creates a play account for the player in the browser to be able to play Valhalla seamlessly. Players can then create as many characters in their play account as they want. And, fully save (and load) their progress (characters and their data) by linking their account to a wallet (the main account).

Play Account

A Play Account is automatically created in each player's browser to enable seamless gameplay in Valhalla, meaning players don't need to manually approve every blockchain transaction through MetaMask or a similar wallet. Read more about the blockchain and transactions: Blockchain.

While only using a Play account, the player’s progress is only temporarily saved locally on the browser. This means that you cannot access your progress on another device and resetting the browser data will lose your progress permanently.

To save character data and progress, players have to link their play account to a crypto wallet, aka a Main Account (read how to: Managing your Account ). This way, when players might create a new play account, they can link their wallet, which retrieves their characters and all the related data to the new play account.

Play accounts require a password, in order to ensure players’ data is protected. With it, the player can also access the seed phrase of their account, which can be used to log into their play account as a wallet in the rare case they need to retrieve unused opBNB balance from it.

The play account password cannot be retrieved or reset once created, make sure to store it safely!

Wallet (Main Account)

Players are highly advised to link their play account to a wallet to save their data (Read how to do it: Managing your Account ). The data includes the account’s characters, and everything the characters own, such as their Veras, items, clans, currency, etc. When they create a new play account, and link that one to their wallet (Main Account) too, their characters will be retrieved.

The only thing that isn’t moved from the play account to the main account level when linking, is the play account’s opBNB balance which is actively required to play Valhalla and perform transactions.

Linking an account also enables account exclusive features such as the Bank, the Stash.

Character & Character Data

Players can create multiple characters in one Play Account (regardless whether it is linked or not). These characters are NFTs that players can play as. Characters contain items, Veras, currencies (Runix and Onyx), and other NFTs in their inventory. If a character is discarded, in the form of an unlinked play account’s password forgotten, for example, the character’s possessions will also be lost.

More Information: Viking Characters.

The only way to retrieve characters or items in this scenario would be to use the saved seed-phrase for that play-account to log into it as a wallet, through meta-mask or a similar app. Then, from there, send all Valhalla Tokens on that wallet to the address of another available play account.

Account Data

Some game data is stored in players’ Main Account / Wallet if they’re linked. This game data affects all the characters in the account. This includes the players’ Floki Tier, Loot Reserve, Bank milestones and vaults, The Shop Runix supply, as well as items, NFTs, currencies and Veras that are moved from a character to the Stash.

Read more about the Stash here: The Stash, Transferring to Wallet).
